La Flor Dominicana Andalusian Bull Cigar Review

6

LFD’s Andalusian Bull is a limited edition cigar featuring bold hickory leather flavor with subtle spice accents. This unique smoke earned 2016’s Cigar of the Year award and received a 96 rating from Cigar Aficionado.

Litto Gomez and his team employed an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper of dark natural shade to cover top-of-the-line Dominican filler and binder tobaccos, creating an impressive and exaggerated figurado shape that requires immense skill to craft.

Breed Characteristics

The Fighting Lidia cattle breed is an exceptional and invaluable genetic and morphological resource in its species, explicitly selected to exhibit courage and strength when facing threats. Unfortunately, these desired behaviors it make handling these animals challenging, thus prohibiting manual morphological studies.

Photogrammetry allowed for preliminary morphometric characterization of 264 adult males and females from 21 different herds using photogrammetry, yielding significant internal variability that demonstrated sexual dimorphism as well as genetic line differences within the breed. Overall, fighting Lidia bulls displayed great harmony, with male proportionality being more balanced compared to body and muscle development than in females, likely as a result of selective breeding for performance during taurine events.

This was evident in their index of proportionality (Table 1), which was closer to 50 than other breeds bred solely for beef production yet still higher than Uruguayan breeds and the pirenaica breed. Furthermore, their average height at withers was significantly lower than other Spanish autochthonous breeds due to selective breeding for athletic appearance and charging behavior during taurine events.

Additionally, researchers found that external horn length was at an average height, consistent with an overall trend for increased horn size in fighting bulls. This increase could be attributed to the selection of more complex and well-shaped horns – something essential for taurine performances.

Genetics

La Flor Dominicana’s Andalusian Bull has disproved any notion that Dominican cigars lack complexity when compared to Cuban tobacco blends, with Master Blender Litto Gomez having created this 2016 Cigar of the Year winner from an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper covering potency fillers and binder grown on La Canela farm in the Dominican Republic – creating an unparalleled smoking experience for any lover of premium tobaccos.

Personality

If you enjoy La Flor Dominicana cigars, then the Andalusian Bull is an essential try. Boasting an unusual 6 1/4 x 42 size and made with tobaccos selected through an enhanced selection process, the LFD Andalusian Bull stands out in an industry entire of conventional shapes. Litto Gomez became renowned for using unconventional forms – like this Andalusian Bull’s 6 1/4 x 42 size and higher selection process tobacco selection process; the pre-light aroma is rich with nougat, molasses, and cedar; once lit, the cigar starts full throttle but then gradually smooths into cedar dominance throughout its smoke time – an exceptional experience that will impress true cigar aficionados alike!

Performance

Andalusian Bull’s potent blend of strength and smooth complexity was honored with first place at the 2016 Cigar Aficionado Cigar of the Year Awards by La Flor Dominicana of the Dominican Republic. Constructed using only premium tobaccos, Andalusian Bull boasts just two skilled Master Rollers as it’s made using this particular old-school mold from Belgium that Litto Gomez found years before!

Gomez was born and raised in Spain, where this cigar takes inspiration from bullfighting. The Andalusian Bull is a stunning blend featuring dark natural Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper tobaccos grown at Estancia La Flor de Palma farm – giving this slow-burning full-bodied premium a powerful punch of leather, earth, chocolate, and subtle sweet notes that pack an impressive 6 1/4 x 42 figurado viola size.

For those who appreciate the taste and aroma of Cuban-style puro cigars, this cigar should not be missed! And for those unfamiliar with LFD cigars, this one makes an ideal introduction to their fantastic portfolio of offerings.
