Montville Township Public Schools Calendar 2022-2023 provides an inclusive schedule of school events, holidays, and important holidays, in addition to helping scholars plan their study time effectively.
Montville Muslim community had campaigned for Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as days off by writing letters, attending Board of Education meetings, and creating flyers arguing it is a human right to celebrate one’s faith.

At the school board meeting on March 7, Aysha Qureshi addressed the board and requested they include Eid as part of their holiday calendar. She noted her daughter attends Woodmont High School, as well as how the Montville community was becoming more accepting towards Muslims. Qureshi requested time off school so her daughter could take part in Eid celebrations.
Employers in the private sector aren’t legally required to offer paid days off for national and state holidays; however, many do. Employees can take the day off using personal time off, vacation days, or sick leave; some employers may require employees to work if they cannot afford to close down business on these holidays.
The state determines New Jersey school closing dates and applies to all public schools within its boundaries. There may be exceptions, however, such as religious holidays announced by local governments, but which don’t count towards closings by the state and won’t impact Montville school’s calendar.
Due to an extreme heat wave in North Jersey, some school districts have begun their academic year early. Some opened on Tuesday while others started on Thursday due to rising temperatures and humidity; additionally, the National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for parts of New Jersey.
