Choosing a Laptop Cooler

12

If you want to improve the performance of your laptop and ensure that you are not overheating your system, you should consider investing in a good laptop cooler. The right one will be able to take care of your computer’s hottest components and can even prevent damage to your system.

Processor-package temperature

If you’re experiencing issues with your PC’s processor-package temperature, there are several ways to fix them. The first step is to determine why the temperature is higher than expected.

Poor airflow usually causes high temperatures. If your CPU is overheating, adding more fans will help expel the warm air and help lower your temperature.

Another reason for a high temperature can be a sour thermal paste. An excellent thermal paste keeps chips close to room temperature and maximizes heat transfer. However, after a few years, the thermal paste can become dried out, which stops the heat transfer. Using a new thermal paste can be inexpensive to correct the problem.

CPU temperature

You should monitor your CPU temperature if you are running your computer in direct sunlight or using many demanding applications. Overheating can cause problems, such as system crashes and hardware damage. This is especially true if you are playing resource-intensive video games.

A sound CPU cooling system can keep your PC running at optimal temperatures. There are several software and hardware options for achieving this goal.

A CPU temperature measurement tool called Core Temp is available for free. This application will tell you what each CPU core’s average and maximum temperatures are. It will also show you the temperature in Fahrenheit and Celsius.

GPU temperature

If your laptop has an AMD or Nvidia graphics card, it’s essential to check your GPU temperature. Overheating can damage your GPU and other components. However, you can prevent overheating from happening.

If you’re using Windows 10 or higher, you can check your GPU temperature by opening Task Manager and clicking the Performance tab. You can also use third-party tools to monitor the temperature of your GPU.

You can use a free utility such as Speedfan or GPU-Z. You can also try a program called HWInfo.

Active vs. passive cooling options

When choosing a laptop cooler, it is essential to determine whether you need an active or passive cooling system. In general, the two types are similar, but they are also different.

With an active cooling system, a fan is attached to the bottom of the laptop, which moves air toward the computer. Some high-end systems use blowers instead of fans, and some have filters to prevent dust from entering the computer. Some are designed to work with a vertical or horizontal position, while others have a variable height riser.

Llano

The Llano laptop cooler is one of the best-looking cooling pads on the market today. It is made of a thick aluminum alloy, providing good airflow for faster cooling. Besides its cool looks, it also offers several features.

It comes with a high-speed turbofan that can reduce your laptop’s temperature by up to fifteen degrees Celsius. The pad also has a front bezel to protect it from falling. In addition, it has four anti-skid rubber cushions designed to support the weight of your laptop or tablet.

Kootek

A Kootek laptop cooler can keep your notebook laptop cool. It has five fans with a total of 110mm of cooling capacity. Depending on your needs, you can use all fans at once or only select one fan to run.

The cooler has a plastic frame and metal grate on top. It also has two USB pass-throughs and a pair of side stoppers to prevent your laptop from sliding off the pad.

The cooler comes with a USB cable and a year’s warranty. The unit works with laptops up to 17 inches in size. It has a brushed aluminum panel that improves cooling performance.

Thermaltake Massive 20 RGB

The Thermaltake Massive 20 RGB is a vast laptop cooler. It’s got a lot going for it, including an RGB LED-lit base, a metal grate, a 200mm fan, and an RGB LED lighting strip around the frame. Despite being a reasonably bulky device, it is surprisingly lightweight. It weighs 3.38 pounds.

The best part is that this striking cooling pad can be used with laptops of just about any size. It’s suitable for notebooks up to 17.4 inches, though you’ll probably have to sacrifice a few inches of width.
