Spring is here! Even if it doesn’t really show it here in Humboldt quite yet. I like to keep my christmas stuff up way too long… like I practically just took them down… so I am not always on top of spring decor. However, I am ready to refresh my house and I want to share some of my tips
Spring cleaning at it’s best. I go through every room and not only clean, but purge, purge, purge. I do this often throughout the year, but in spring it always feels the best… getting rid of the dead and bringing in the fresh and new.
Pillows and Throws
Now that I’ve purged, I like to fill in just a little. New pillows and throw blankets can do a lot to change a room. Choosing colorful and new patterns can give the mind a sense that the whole space is new.
Another way to bring a room to life is adding little accent pieces. This year I am opting for whites and golds. I usually do most of my tchotchke shopping at Tj Max, Ross, or a thrift store–things are cheap and so easy to replace with each season.
There is nothing like fresh flowers to tell me spring is here, so I love to bring in the wildflowers and fruit blossoms. I also hit up our local flower shop Blossoms Florist to get some of the more ornate picks.
As much as I love the look of flowers, I find the smell just doesn’t permeate like I want, so I turn to Voluspa candles. I put at least one in every room. For spring I will lean towards florals and citrus. Not only do these candles smell amazing, the containers double as tchotchkes!
